It was a great honor for 1st Chinese Herbs to be established in May 1994 - a significant milestone.
Over 29 years of Lab Tested Herbs, Herbal Teas, and Supplements.
1994: Our store opened like any other store, with food, vitamins, herbs, sport supplements, homeopathic, and a juice bar. If we had only known what we had a head of us... As in all things, we grew and started to change.
1996: We revamped our store and started with only 75 varieties of bulk western herbs. We had very basic herbs that our customers had been asking for, such as peppermint, lavender, valerian, allspice, etc. The bulk herbs were available most in cut form of the twig, roots and stems. Powders shortly followed.
1997: We vastly expanded our western herb to 510 quality herbs. We knew we could offer our customers the absolute best quality at an affordable price.
1999: We expanded into Chinese Bulk Herbs and added another 800 herbs to our vast array of choices.
2001: Our store upgraded our stock with powder concentrates.
2002: We introduced our services as a wholesale distributor for manufactures, doctors, students, and herbalists.
2003: At this point, we offered over 1,500 different Chinese and western herbs in powder, whole, cut, concentrate, and granule form. We geared up for the wave of people who began to take their health into their own hands. Their motto became "Prevention"! We are situated in a unique community. We are 60 miles south of Seattle, 120 Miles North of Portland, so we are easy access for the two large Naturopathic Schools.
(10 YEARS!) 2004: We lowered the prices on 30% of our Chinese Traditional herbs and increased our herb offerings by another 50 hard-to-find herbs.
2005: We started with 20 certified organic herbs (including anise, peppermint, burdock root, and comfrey root). We also added 30 more Chinese formulas and 50 more herbal extracts.
2006: We updated our website to add in a search bar, new web layout, and a FAQ section.
2007: Our sister store, DiscountNaturalHerbs, offered certified organic bulk herbs and packaged teas. We also added added our newsletter and podcasting.
2008: The changes never stopped! This year, we added certified organic essential oils to DiscountNaturalHerbs. We also implemented a new sale program called the Brown Bag Sale, where the prices are reduced drastically for all items listed on the Brown Bag Sale Page. We upgraded our website to be hacker free and added in eBooks.
2009: We started our affiliate program which offers 15% commission on each order. We also increased our cold and flu offerings. Additionally, we added more bath salts and packaged teas. Our best seller for this year turned out to be our Reishi Mushrooms along with Source Naturals Wellness Formulas. Lastly, we offered free giveaways this year (which has now ended).
2010: After adding in 35 new bulk herbs and 10 new teapills, we added photos to the teapill pages. For our online customers' protection, we also added Authorize.net to our shopping cart.
2011: This year, we added liquid extracts to our online catalog. We brought in Health King and Star Ring boxed teas. Our lab test bulk herbs selection grew from 33 to 87 different herbs. Lastly, we increased our line of Lyme disease protocol products for all those who are suffering from Lyme disease.
2012: We added a great number of medicinal mushrooms and fungi. Lion's mane mushrooms, cordyceps mushrooms, reishi mushrooms, and shiitaki mushrooms are just the beginnings of our mushrooms. Our organic Chinese Herbs have grown as well to included stephania root, bushy knotweed, and 26 other herbs! The latest additions were our ointments and salves. We are now on Amazon. We listed 80 bulk herbs so far and will be getting another 80 on before the end of the year!
2013: We had many great and exciting changes this year. We offer mushrooms in capsules form. We expanded our barley grass, chlorella, and wheat grass options. Additionally, we added more information about the quality and testing of our herbs. Lastly, we are proud to be noted in the back as a supply source for S. Buhner's book Healing Lyme Disease Co-infections.
(20 YEARS!) 2014: We want to thank our customers for being so great, and we really appreciate you! We had some major changes and our buzz word is "organic." We are making an effort to obtain more certified organic herbs in order to bring our customers the best selection on the web! We have four new employees, a new web design complete with a search mode. We are also on social media! We can be found on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and Tumblr. Our Amazon store has a 5 star rating. The best thing about 2014 is that everyone is healthy, happy, and ready to make 2015 even better.
2015: Even though the year is not over, I just have to write something to say thanks to all our customers. We have two new websites. 1stChineseHerbs.com has been updated to be user friendly, mobile ready, and a few new lines of products. We can't thank our customers enough, for their input in making this happen. Our other new site is dedicated to wholesale customers, which can be found at FirstChineseHerbs.com. 2015 also brings us new products, to assist in your journey towards health.
2016: Our new site design is completed. More information, greater details, and more choices. Photos to show how the products look before you purchase. Don't forget about the logins, when you a create an account, it will keep track of all your purchases. We have expanded our mushroom line. I have to admit who would have thought mushrooms would be such a huge topic. I was even in the hardware store and I overheard someone talking about " I have a huge Lion's Mane mushroom growing on two of my trees." Let me just thank everyone who visits our site. We have added new items, due to loads of feedback. Increased our inventory on Amazon.com
2017: You Talked We Listened! We have heard your requests, and are implementing the changes! We are adding more information to the product pages. Offering different package sizes of bulk herbs.Several herbs are now available in 2 ounce, 4 ounce, 8 ounce and 16 ounce sizes. Expanding the Lyme Disease information. Added Chenny, as the Director of Good-News (D.O.G) on our blog. Diversified our Mushrooms. Though I must say the best improvement we have made is in shipping. We now processes and ship out orders the same day if ordered before 10:00a.m. Have you seen us on Walmart.com yet? Yes we are there too, making it easy for you to find what you are looking for. At the end of 2017 we are hoping to have our chat feature of the new improved website. No need to even email, it will be as simple as clicking the chat icon.
2018: Easy to find us everywhere, Amazon, Walmart, Ebay, and our Own Website. We have added a new chat feature to our site, where you just click on the box, and you can reach us between the hours of 8:00am to 1:00pm Pacific Standard Time. This feature allows us to answer your questions quickly. Have you been following us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram? There you will find our new arrivals, sales, and non advertised sales. Easy to sign up. Big News is the Prop 65 sticker that you will be seeing on all the herbs which are being shipped out. The last thing that we are so happy to announce is that we have a new line of herbs from Dimmak Herbs. The Dimmak Herbs are in 4 ounce size packages perfect for you to try.
2019: Let's just call this our skip year, as we wish we would have been able to skip over it.
2020: Surviving the Coronavirus COVID-19. Just saying: Stay positive, and we are only a phone call away if you need any questions answered. (or and email away which ever you prefer). We can answer your questions between 9:00am and 2:00pm Monday through Friday. Sorry for the short hours.
2021: We are moving our warehouse. We are going to be relocating to Republic Washington. It's time to look for the good in all. It's Spring 2021 and finally I can bring you some good news. New harvest of bulk herbs and powders are finally starting to arrive. Even though some will be limited stock until Fall 2021, at least we are getting the herbs that everyone has been looking for. We have also expanded our lines in Activeherbs, bring the items you have requested. It has been a great success with these new concentrates, and hope you will try some of them soon. 2022: It's been a year of renewal! Products are starting to arrive again in a timely manner. Products which we haven't been able to get in over two years are now available. Which makes everyone happy! We will miss our friend Stephen Buhner, who died in December 2022. A man who made a huge difference in my life, as so many others. If you have never read any of his wonderful books, it is well worth the time to read any or all of them. We sincerely wish everyone a fantastic Year of the Rabbit in 2023.
2023: As we enter 2023, we are thrilled to share the exciting growth we have experienced over the past year. Our journey has been nothing short of remarkable. We have expanded our offerings by partnering with Active Herb, a renowned vendor known for their quality products. Adding them to our list of suppliers has allowed us to provide a wider range of options to our valued customers.
2023 has marked a turning point as things have started to get back to normal. The challenges we faced during the pandemic made us even more determined to offer reliable service and exceptional products. We are thrilled.
In terms of our best sellers, it's no secret that Ban Lan Gen, Andrographis, and Hawthorn Berries have stolen the spotlight among our customers. These phenomenal herbs have become favorites for their potency and numerous benefits. We take pride in offering these popular items to ensure you have access to the very best.
While our journey hasn't been without its ups and downs, we believe in being transparent with our customers. Unfortunately, we fell victim to a scammer in the past. The scammer was buying product from us, then shipping the product to a mule. Where the mule would then turn about and send it to Amazon Fulfillment Centers. The buyer would then tell us they never got the product and imitate a charge back to us. It took us about 10 to figure this out, as there were more than 15 address the scammer was using to send to his mules. Let me just say this, it was frustrating but it is over now, though we watch every order, as well as have put in fraud alerts.
On a lighter note, we have a furry addition to our team - our new office cat! He brings a touch of humor to our daily routine. It seems that he finds it utterly hilarious to occasionally stroll across the keyboard, leaving a trail of random letters... mostly a whole lot of "Z's". Despite the occasional typos, he has become a cherished member of our store's family.
