Why is Eleuthero Root Called Siberian Ginseng?

Eleuthero root is called Siberian ginseng primarily because it is native to Siberia and other parts of northeastern Asia, and it shares some similar properties to those of true ginseng (Panax ginseng).

Although a distant relative of American (Panax quinquefolius) and Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng), with some overlap in its uses, siberian ginseng is a distinct plant with different active chemical components. Siberian ginseng is not a true ginseng as it is only remotely related to the true ginsengs (such as the well-known Panax ginseng). However, it is commonly regarded as such for its similar adaptogenic properties (Chen et. al, 2008).

These plant parts are often used as a tea, decoctions, extracts, made into capsules or even a footbath. These bulk herbs should be regarded as an added feature to modern western healthcare, and not as a replacement. Chinese traditional herbs ( Teas ) emphasize harmony and balance.
