New Season, New Tea Flavor. For Me That Means it Must Have a Hint of Orange.

Maybe it's just me, but when the season changes so does my morning tea. The Summer brings me to my light and refreshing teas. Peppermint, Jasmine, and my favorite blended tea Orange Spice. I don't drink coffee, so for me this is my goose to the caboose to start my morning. Even though I am a morning person, 5:00 a.m. comes early. The Orange Spice blend, has the aroma which reminds me of the orange orchards that I used to drive though with all the windows down on my way to work. When the wind was blowing the right direction, the uplifting orange aroma would fill the car, and improve my mood.
At the first sign frost, in my mind, Autumn is here. My tea preferences go through a small transformation. A few mornings I will still drink Orange Spice, but my tastes start changing to a hardy, full blend bouquet. Once the time change takes place, the turning back of the clock, peppermint is no longer in my teapot. It is now Chai Herbal Tea, caffeine free, made with coconut milk. I know call me weird, or say yuck, but the slightly heavier blend of tea keeps me motivated, warm, and most of all helps my immune system. As being sick during the holiday's has got to be the worst experience ever. I love my Chai Tea, it has such a fantastic tantalizing scent, of cloves, cardamon, ginger, licorice, and orange peel - starting to see the orange theme in my teas? I am always in a bit of a kerfuffle until I have had my first sip.
Winter is a another challenge for me here in Washington. As it doesn't matter whether it is rain, sleet, snow, or sun, when the thermometer says 35 degrees, that signals Winter to me. Time to get out the big guns, English Breakfast tea, with a full portion of milk and sugar, Genmaicha Green tea... you know the tea that has popped brown rice in it. For those days that radio alarm clock wakes you up playing the Pointer Sisters song "Jump"...... well it can only be one tea for me..... Mango Ceylon Tea with sliced oranges.
Springtime! After those winter mornings I so look forward to my last change. I get rid of that cabin fever feeling with a huge, mug of Serendipitea Tea, the ingredients consist of licorice, spearmint, cinnamon, rose petals, raspberry, and you guessed it orange peel. For me this is perfect after my heavy winter teas, and in my mind it puts the bounce back in my step.
As you can tell I have a real weakness for orange aroma and flavor. It is a bit funny, but more than that it works for me. So many people think there is only one kind of tea, Black Tea. So my tip of the day is to expand your taste buds. Discover you favorite flavor!
(The picture with the trees is during the summer on Smith Lake, with an Eagle sitting on a log. The snow pictures is my dog trying to catch the scent of the squirrels and rabbits in the deep snow.)
