Burdock Root is a multi-purpose herb is native to Europe and Asia. More recently in the United States, with Native American Indians using it as a medicinal plant to cleanse the body and spirit. Arctium lappa, commonly known as Burdock Root, is a type of weed related to sunflowers and part of the daisy family. Native to Europe and Northern Asia, burdock produces purple flowers in the autumn and spring and can be identified by its heart-shaped leaves. Burdock root is thought to be the most beneficial part of the plant. Popular as a holistic medicine, it has been used for centuries to treat a range of conditions. The roots are long and dark in color, going as deep as three feet into the ground.
