Er Long Zuo Ci Wan Teapills – Traditional Liver & Kidney Yin Support

Plum Flower | 200 Teapills

Er Long Zuo Ci Wan is a traditional Chinese herbal formula used according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles to nourish Liver and Kidney Yin and support balance within traditional patterns involving the ears.

This formula combines prepared Rehmannia, Chinese yam, Cornus fruit, Alisma, Moutan bark, Poria, Bupleurum, and toasted Magnetitum in small, convenient teapills.

Also traditionally known as: Nourishing Pills for Deafness. This is an established historical English name for the formula and is not intend

ed to imply that the product treats, cures, or reverses deafness or hearing loss.

What Is Er Long Zuo Ci Wan?

Er Long Zuo Ci Wan is a traditional Chinese herbal formula based on the nourishing principles found in the classic Liu Wei Di Huang Wan family of formulas. It contains the familiar combination of Shu Di Huang, Shan Yao, Shan Zhu Yu, Ze Xie, Mu Dan Pi, and Fu Ling, with the addition of Chai Hu and toasted Ci Shi.

Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ears are traditionally associated with the Kidney system. Because of this relationship, Chinese herbal practitioners may consider patterns involving Kidney Yin and Liver Yin when selecting traditional formulas for overall ear-related balance.

The words Kidney, Liver, Yin, Yang, Heat, Qi, and Essence on this page describe traditional Chinese Medicine concepts. They do not refer to biomedical kidney, liver, auditory, or other medical diagnoses.

Who Traditionally Uses Er Long Zuo Ci Wan?

Er Long Zuo Ci Wan is traditionally considered when a Chinese herbal practitioner identifies a pattern involving insufficient Liver and Kidney Yin together with traditional signs associated with the ears.

Traditional Chinese herbal formulas are selected according to an individual's overall TCM pattern rather than by one symptom alone. Two people with a similar concern may receive different traditional formulas depending on their overall pattern.

If you are unsure whether this formula matches your needs, consult a qualified healthcare professional or experienced Chinese herbal practitioner.

Traditional Chinese Medicine Perspective

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, Yin represents nourishing, cooling, moistening, and restorative aspects of the body. Er Long Zuo Ci Wan belongs to a family of traditional formulas designed to nourish Yin while maintaining balance among the formula's richer and lighter ingredients.

Benefits of Nourishing Pills for Deafness

Nourishes Liver and Kidney Yin

Prepared Rehmannia, Chinese yam, and Cornus fruit form the nourishing foundation of the formula. Traditionally, these herbs are used together to nourish Liver and Kidney Yin and support Essence according to TCM theory.

Balances the Nourishing Herbs

Alisma, Moutan bark, and Poria traditionally provide balancing actions within the formula. In TCM formulation theory, they help prevent the nourishing ingredients from becoming overly rich or stagnant while supporting balanced fluid movement.

Traditional Role of Chai Hu and Ci Shi

Chai Hu and toasted Ci Shi distinguish Er Long Zuo Ci Wan from the basic six-ingredient Rehmannia formula.

Chai Hu is traditionally associated with maintaining the smooth movement of Liver Qi. Ci Shi, or Magnetitum, is a traditional mineral ingredient described in Chinese herbal theory as having settling and anchoring qualities.

These descriptions reflect traditional formulation theory and are not statements that the ingredients treat a disease or medical condition.

Why Choose Teapills infographic explaining the convenience of traditional Chinese herbal teapills, including no brewing, easy use with water, convenient travel, pre-formulated herbal combinations, and no measuring of loose herbs. Also illustrates the small size of a traditional teapill compared with a typical capsule.

Why Choose Teapills?

Traditional Chinese herbal formulas were historically prepared in several forms, including teas and decoctions. Teapills provide a convenient way to use a traditional multi-ingredient formula without preparing herbs on the stove.

  • No brewing or decocting
  • Easy to take with water
  • Convenient at home or while traveling
  • Pre-formulated combination of traditional ingredients
  • Small teapill size
  • No measuring individual herbs for each serving

Teapills are much smaller than many conventional tablets or capsules. Their small size is why a typical serving may contain several teapills.

How to Use Er Long Zuo Ci Wan

Label directions: Take 8 teapills, 3 times daily, or as directed by your qualified healthcare professional.

At the label directions of 24 teapills per day, a 200-count bottle provides approximately 8 days of use.

Teapills are generally swallowed with water. If you have a sensitive stomach, you may prefer taking them with food.

Always follow the directions on the current bottle, as manufacturer labeling can change.

Er Long Zuo Ci Wan Compared With Liu Wei Di Huang Wan

People familiar with Chinese herbal formulas may notice that Er Long Zuo Ci Wan contains the six ingredients commonly associated with Liu Wei Di Huang Wan, together with Chai Hu and Ci Shi.

Liu Wei Di Huang Wan is traditionally used as a foundational Liver and Kidney Yin-nourishing formula.

Er Long Zuo Ci Wan builds upon that traditional foundation by adding Chai Hu and toasted Ci Shi, giving the formula a more specialized traditional emphasis involving the ears and the relationship between Liver and Kidney Yin.

This comparison describes traditional Chinese Medicine formulation principles and does not imply that either formula is intended to treat a medical condition.

As an Herbalist, I am using Er Long Zuo Ci for Deafness in both a human and a Dog. They have already made an improvement in the Human's perceptibility of sound (Birds, outdoor noises, talking) within a 3 week period on a lower dose, I am now having the patient use the full dosage. The Dog's hearing is for Scientific study to see if it can make a difference on a pet that was born deaf (time will tell).
